Leco Salazar storms to victory at 2013 Ubatuba Pro Brazil

After 3 days of intense action here at Itamamabuca Beach in the beautiful region of Ubatuba Brazil, Leco Salazar storms to victory here at the Ubatuba Pro Brazil in a star studded fleet to secure the win at Stop 2 of the 2013 Stand Up World Tour.
After narrowly advancing out of Semi final number 1, Leco got on a roll during the final, finding the right waves in a tricky line-up to post a string of scores in the excellent range and secure the all important win at home in Brazil.
This is his 3rd World Tour win here in Brazil out of the 4 years we have been down here and 4th win on the Tour as a whole, demonstrating not only his supreme expertise in Brazilian beach break conditions, but also his ability to perform in front of the home crowd.

Bilbao (Spain) World SUP Challenge 2013

A new stand up paddle world event will be held in BILBAO (BIZKAIA / BASQUE COUNTRY / SPAIN) on june 21-22-23.
Co-organized by BWATERS (www.bwaters.org) the energetic local SUP Club of Bilbao and DIABOLO FUN (www.diabolofun.com) the organizer of OLERON ISLAND STAND UP PADDLE CHALLENGE (www.facebook.com/OleronSUPChallenge) and NAUTIC SUP PARIS CROSSING (www.facebook.com/NAUTIC-SUP-PARIS-CROSSING),
this event will offer an unbelievable and unique race on the river “La
Ria de Bilbao” right in the middle of the heart of Bilbao, the capital
US$ 20.000 prize money BILBAO WORLD SUP CHALLENGE is a new STANDUP
WORLD SERIES PRIME EVENT confirmed on the 2013 International calendar.
Scheduled after “OLERON ISLAND” event BILBAO WORLD SUP CHALLENGE will
attract the top riders of the world. Open to the “PRO” riders this event
will be as well a very friendly gathering for those who just like to
cruise and to discover the beauty of Bilbao. Therefore the event is open
to “Amateurs” (OPEN DIVISION). With a long distance race of 15 km for
“PRO DIVISION” and a 8.5 km for “OPEN DIVISION” the river will be crowed
of paddlers coming from all around the world. The Long Distance race is
scheduled on Saturday at 4.00 pm.
Sprint Race will be held on Sunday afternoon at “Arenal”, inside the
“old” Bilbao, where the “BILBAO WORLD SUP CHALLENGE Village” will be set
up. With a very intense course between emblematic bridges of the city
it is highly likely that competitors will be supported by thousands of
spectators massed along the river. Emotional moments guaranteed!
Many activities, local games and clinics will be proposed as well to the public on Saturday and Sunday to bring to this 1st BILBAO WORLD SUP CHALLENGE the standing of the great local events.

Connor Baxter wins the long distance and overall in Brazil

Connor Baxter (Starboard) makes it a clean sweep here at Stop 2 of the
Stand Up World Series in Ubatuba, Brazil, winning both the sprint racing
and Long distance courses at Praia do Centro and earning him the Stand
Up World Series event Title here in Brazil.
Connor took the lead during the first lap over teammate, Leaonard Nika
(Starboard) and gradually built on that lead over the course to secure
the win, despite a last minute surge from Kai Lenny (Naish).
The course took the athletes down the beautiful coastline of Ubatuba
Town and back in a 2 lap format that provided one of the most
competitive long distance races yet on the Stand up World Series.

Get on board for the UK's first Naish One SUP Race Series

The rapidly growing sport of Stand Up Paddling (SUP) has received
another big boost in the UK, with the announcement of a brand new event
in the Olympic water sports venue, Weymouth.
The UK’s first Naish One SUP Race Series has been organised as part of the Ecover Blue Mile – Race for the Environment weekend on 27-28 July. Naish UK have put up £1,000 in prize money for the event.
Britain’s biggest SUP star, Dorset-based Ryan James, has already
confirmed his participation, despite a busy schedule of international
competition this year. The Ecover Blue Mile takes place just along the
coast from Ryan’s home town, Poole.
The Weymouth race series features a 100m sprint, a 400m intermediate
race, and a 1500m event – the Ecover Blue Mile. Races take place on both
days and are open to first-timers with a minimum age of 14, as well as
experienced SUP racers.
