C4 Waterman Stand Up Paddle XPR Racing Paddle Review
By: Chip Bock
c4watermanxprpaddleblade.jpg    I too, as most of us “SUP’ers” have been trying to evolve with the quickly changing SUP advancements that seem to be popping up in every new surf publication, on the internet and at local breaks around the globe.

The days of simply “Make a big board, stand on it, grab a big paddle and surf” are long gone. Shapers, surfers and paddle designers are pushing the sport faster and faster with every passing day. As with other areas of the surfing industry, technology and materials are at the tip of the spear in this evolution.

Enter paddle innovator and designer Todd Bradley (co-founder of C4 Waterman) and C4’s latest “Racing Specific” XPR paddle.

I have been using the XPR paddle for the past month or so on a custom 19ft carbon fiber BARK racing SUP and I have to tell you it is really an amazing development in SUP paddle design.

Stand Up Paddlers Clean Up Haleiwa
By: Stand Up Paddle Surfing Magazine

It was a morning full of smiles when several local stand up paddlers gathered in Haleiwa on the North Shore of Oahu to clean up the beach and historic Anahulu River after recent winds and flooding littered the beach with debris. Plastic bags, drink cups, window screening, and a plastic bucket were among some of the garbage pulled from the river.  The most difficult thing to cleanup was the irrigation tubing. Tangled in the trees and stuck on rocks underwater, the black tubing is difficult to remove. On the beach, fast food containers, clothing, paper towels, and plastic cups were caught in the rocks and tree roots along the shore. With a high field of vision stand up paddlers can spot floating plastic and rubbish from many yards away. All together approximately 6 bags of rubbish was collected. Then, after a morning of cleanup, some small waves rolled through making for a fun surf session with the cleanup crew. Everyone is looking forward to the next cleanup day. Here are some photos from the day:

By: Stand Up Paddle Surfing Magazine
The Laird series of stand up paddle surfboards by Surftech will forever have their place in the history of the sport as one of the earliest production models available to the general public through retail outlets. Designed by Ron House with input from Laird, this board has for a long time become the measuring stick for stand up paddle board that followed in terms of stability and performance. We recently had occasion to try out a brand spanking new yellow 12’ Laird right off the shelf, shiny and new. For this review we had two riders, one experienced stand up paddler of about 175 lbs and another complete newbie, never before been on a stand up paddleboard paddler of about 230 lbs. The fin installed was the stock 9” single fin that comes with the board. The waves were down so we took it out into the flat water. In this article we’ll cover the shape, stability, and overall impressions.
