The threat of rain was stayed by the sun and the sounds of Bob Marley, “I know
a place….where we can carry on….” as another stand up paddle surfing
event came to a close on Saturday. Once again, the event wasn’t about
winning or losing, it was about surfers coming together and sharing the
stoke. Although
there was prize money and trophies for the winners, it was merely a
side note to the event. Those who took time to spend the day at the
contest were there because they love the sport and the friendship of
the other surfers. Kids cheering, “Go daddy go!”, drinks from the
cooler, and shade from the tents, permeated the day’s mellow mood. The
diverse blend surfers from a various cultures and backgrounds was
almost surreal. It’s amazing how this sport There’s one more event left
in the series, this time in the North Shore. Be there, unites people.
It was all smiles, all day. Haleiwa onand if you have a board, join the
