Aloha Friends,

As the northern hemisphere begins to light up there's plenty of buzz going on about what's in store for this stand up paddle winter. It's always on my mind and in an attempt to get it out so I can focus on the important things like. . . eating and sleeping, here's it goes.

There's no doubt that there are going to be some hard chargers this winter. Thinking back to some of the things I saw in the water last year, I wonder if my mind is taking me too far to where the limits will be pushed to next. Visions of rhino-chasing guns flood my mind as talk of these insane board designs are materializing as customs at various shops across the country.

This summer brought some macking swells out of the southern hemisphere and I caught a sneak peak of some hellmen charging some of the gnarliest breaks in the world. I wouldn't touch with a jet ski and a buoy strapped to my back. The tow-in surfers are bringing along the stand up boards to see if they can paddle into a few monsters without jet ski assist. It's reality my friends and the photos are on the way.

Whew! I hope that did it. All that said, I just want to remind everone to surf within your ability. Approach your lineups the right way and keep the good name of stand up paddle surfing. If you look out to the lineup and you're having doubts about whether or not you can handle it, move on to a less aggressive wave. Have fun my friends. Aloha.
