A brilliant day out on the North Shore
again! At first light I was paddling out into shoulder to head high
waves… no wind, blue skies, turtles, fish, and plenty of waves. It was
one after another. I was soon joined by Blane Chambers from Paddle Surf
Hawaii. It’s always good times surfing with Blane. He was ripping as
always. We always talk about how far the sport has come in popularity
and equipment. They will be opening a stand up paddle showroom in
Wahiawa in the near future. Check back for details in the future.
Waimea Bay lifeguard, Vitor, was also out ripping on his stand up
surfboard. His knowledge of the ocean really shined through. It seemed
that every time I turned around he was shredding off the lip of the
outside sets.
Derek Agaran also came out, making it 4 of us out there. It’s always
good times surfing with Derek. He’s always full of Aloha, and he
charges big waves too.
When things started getting a little crowded, like 10 people in the
lineup, I paddled down the coast a little to surf at the next break. It
was me and one other guy, then a little later a girl with a bodyboard
joined us. Just about that time, it seemed to me like the swell was
shifting and the waves were following us….nice.
The ocean treated us with some summer fun. I heard it’s a little smaller today but coming back up tomorrow. Stoked!
