I couldn't let the day go without sharing today's stand up paddle surf session. The waves were head high to just overhead with great company. Allen Mozo, Hawaiian, and I were trading waves all morning. Those guys are so stoked, it was a blast. Hawaiian, on his longboard, was hooting, hollering and hollering with glee, calling out the waves, and laughing right through both the killer rides and the wipeouts. Allen was ripping on his new stand up paddle surfboard, a 9'1", if I recall. The board I'm riding now used to be his board so it's always interesting to find out what he's riding now and how we're toying with the fins. Allen is one of the premier water photographers on the North Shore. His shots are amazing. In fact you can check out his work at  Allen scored the wave of the day...a huge open left that put a smile on his face almost as big as the wave. He told me that he should have went in after that wave  because he doubts he'll get another one like it; but don't we all say that only to find ourselves back in the lineup? By the way, from what I saw he found another one. I can pride myself on taking the beating of the day. I was stuck in the bowl when a nice overhead barrel came down on me. Allen was in the channel and said that he could see me through the barrel just as it curled over me and send me to the cleaners. You know what? If there's one thing that stand up paddling has taught me, it's how to take a royal water whipping and come out smiling. Allen told me that he sometimes catches himself laughing underwater. Nice. Mahalo to Hawaiian and Allen for sharing the waves with me. It really made my day.

Mozo is a champion and the best photograther around. Here I am sharing a wave with him last week somewhere in the maldives
