Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina - On Saturday, May 16, 2009 stand up paddlers will gather at Bluewater Restaurant in Wrightsville for the 1st Annual Intracoastal SUP Cup. The 3.5 mile course will continue around Harbor Island. Proceeds from the event are to benefit the Cape Fear Surfrider Foundation. The event will include 3 classes: 14' and over unlimited class, 12'6" and under unlimited mens' class, and the 12'6" and under unlimited women's class. Entry fee is just $25 and includes event jersey. This stand up paddleboard race is scheduled to run rain or shine with pre-race meeting at 8:15 am and a 9:00 am start. Awards ceremony will take place at 11:00 am. Event sponsors include Kaenon, Teva, Prana, Surftech, Victory, Surfrider Foundation, Smith, Werner, Surf and Sail Stand Up Journal, QuikSilver Edition, Bluewater Grill, Bark, Sea Tow, Kialoa, The North Face, Ray Ban, and Patagonia.
