When and Where: April 17-18 “The SSI SUPer Festival" St Simons Island, GA at East Beach A full-on weekend-long event of stand up paddle boarding activities on St Simons Island, GA, the gem of the Golden Isles. We plan to do it all on this one. Whether you’re an experienced standup paddler, a wanna-be neophyte, a veteran lay-down surfer, or even a cross-over paddler from kayaking – or, heck, just love the water and a BEACH PARTY! – we’ll have something for you. East Beach is a sandbar, semi-protected ocean venue. A short paddle (or a 1/4mile drive) away is Gould’s Inlet – the easiest place to learn to surf on the southeastern coast! Activities include:
> FREE beach demo of many SUP models and paddles, instruction, introduction to flatwater SUP, introduction to wave riding, i.e., SURFING!, fun, informal SUP races, tranquil, exploratory marsh floats, outdoor video screening/cookout Sat. evening , beach party by day, nightlife…at night (Dancing at Ziggy’s).
