Back-to-back wins for Leleo Kinimaka in the HSP Steinlager Shaka Series
No title

On Saturday, May 19th, at Kakaako Beach park in Honolulu, HI. Leleo Kinimaka charged his way to his second win in the Hawaii Surfing Productions, Steinlager Shaka Longboard series Pro-Am Event. Shoulder high surf and blue skies provided great conditions for the event. C4 Waterman, one of the greatest proponents of the sport, sponsored the beachboy division of the contest. SUP surfers from Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island gathered for the event...

Here's the recap of the Semi-Finals and Finals:

Semi-Final: Heat 1 Todd Bradley, Leleo Kinimaka*, Bruce DeSoto, Brian Keaulana*

Keaulana started off the heat early catching the first wave of the heat. DeSoto, on the inside, with long graceful lines had more rides than anyone in the heat. Kinimaka surfing strong, and attemting a helecopter, was only a preview for what was to come.

Semi-Final: Heat 2 Nolan Keaulana, Frank Forbes, Dave Parmenter, Duane Desoto

The wind eased up some for this semi-final heat. Forbes and Parmenter battled it out early taking charge of the heat. Parmenter, leaning on the paddle, and carving off the top adveanced with Nolan Keaulana to the finals.

Final Brian Keaulana, Leleo Kinimaka, Nolan Keaulana, Dave Parmenter.

After an aggressive start by all surfers, Parmenter cut and trimmed his way from the outside right up the judges. Brian with his signature cutbacks dug deep sending whitewater over the lip, then padded straight back to the lineup. Kinimaka answered back with the longest noseride of the day taking him all the way to the inside sections. After Brian caught his last wave of the heat, Leleo, in the final minute of the heat, pulled a noseride to helicopter sealing up his second victory seconds before the horn. Final

Results:

1st Leleo Kinimaka

2nd Brian Keaulana

3rd Dave Parmenter

4th Nolan Keaulana

The next event will be at Queens Beach, in Waikiki, HI from June 30-July 1st.
