Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. (April 19, 2012) – On Thursday, May 24th, beautiful Western Lake in the resort community of WaterColor, FL will come alive with hundreds of enthusiastic stand up paddlers geared and ready to paddle their hearts out.
Presented by Destin Real Estate Company, the 5th Annual YOLO Board Race Series features relay-style competition between male and female teams of four in the Recreational division and teams of three in the Next Level division. The energy-packed series includes participants of all skill levels and ages from junior to seniors vying for the coveted “2012 YOLO Board Cup Series” champion title.
“We are so happy to have Destin Real Estate Company presenting our relay series three years running,” explains Mitzi Archer, Director of Marketing at YOLO Board. “Five years later, we continue to be amazed at the growth and goodwill of our local race scene, from the generous sponsors to the committed paddlers that show up at each and every race. Our passionate watersports community brings the enthusiasm. YOLO Board is just honored to be a part.”
All events will be held at Western Lake in WaterColor and scheduled races (weather permitting) are May 24th, June 14th, July 19th and August 9th. Paddlers will compete on YOLO 12’ recreation boards and YOLO 12’6” Predator and 14' Prowler race boards.
A one-time race entry fee is $240 per four-person relay team ($60 per person) for the Recreational division and $180 per three-person relay team ($60 per person) for the Next Level division. Complimentary 2012 signature event t-shirts will be provided for each participating team.
Destin Real Estate Company will be selling raffle tickets at each race for an Original 12-foot YOLO Board that will be awarded to one lucky ticket holder at the end of the series.
“In addition to cheering on the dozens of local teams participating in the series, we’re especially spirited to rally support around Ridge Nye, one of our biggest champions right now,” adds Blake Morar, owner of Destin Real Estate Company. “Ridge is a dear friend and colleague who is currently coping with the effects of Advanced ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. All raffle proceeds will be donated to Ridge’s family to help offset the cost of his 24-hour in-home care.”
All events are open to the public and provide spectators the chance to cheer on favorite racers and be a part of the world’s fastest growing watersport. YOLO Board is currently seeking sponsors for this highly anticipated community event. A range of sponsorship opportunities is available for businesses and individuals wishing to participate.
