Barz Optics the Gold Coast based optical manufacturer is one of the first sunglass companies in the world to use the new BNL Melanin impregnated polarised sunglass lens. Melanin is the most powerful protection that the body and eye have against UV as it absorbs the higher energy light that does the damage.
As we age 20% of Melanin in the eye is lost by age 40 and 30% by age 50. Melanin impregnated sunglass lenses provide us a way to compensate for the loss and for people with blue eyes the lenses offer a means of acquiring extra Melanin protection in light harsh environments. Ophthalmologists have reported that Melanin in the eye reduces the risks of age-related macular degeneration.
Combined with high quality polarisation - Barz Optics new lenses offer fantastic protection as well as visual clarity and colour balance in harsh environments around water. Barz have added this lens to their two floating sunglasses models - the "Floater" and the "San Juan" as well as their most popular styles the Nauru, Nias and Kelso.
The lens produced in France is available in polycarbonate polarised (amber with bronze mirror coating lens) and polycarbonate polarised photochromic (grey or amber lenses - lens lightens to Cat 2 in low light and darkens to Cat 3 in full sun). Barz Optics are currently exporting their unique sunglass products to the USA, Malaysia, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Germany, NZ, Croatia, Italy, Malta, Kuwait, Dubai, Brazil and Japan and are currently in negotiation with other regional distributors.
