Chip Bock sprints to finish at the '09 Florida State Championships

It has been a long road since Chip Bock’s first phone call with Todd Bradley of C4 Waterman in early 2007. Several boards, paddles and many miles later; the 2009 SUP Race/Contest season is off to a great start for Chip and his sponsors C4 Waterman and BARK Paddleboards on the Right Coast.

In 2007 Chip paddled 22 miles in to a 15 MPH head wind on a stock 12 ft SUP finishing in over 7 hours; the 3rd of only three SUP racers to finish the 2007 Causeway 2 Causeway Challenge. He also raised almost $3,000 for LIVESTRONG completing that race.

In 2008 with the help of C4 Waterman and BARK Paddleboards, Bock placed2nd in the Florida State Paddleboard Championships, 2nd in the WatermanPaddleboard Challenge, 3rd in the East Coast Championships, 1st in thePro/Am Cocoa Beach Surf Company/National Kidney Foundation SUP Divisionsurf contest and 1st in the 2008 22 mile Causeway 2 Causeway Challenge(raising another $1,500 for LIVESTRONG again).

So far in 2009 after 2 x races and one surf contest (again with the support of C4 Waterman and BARK Paddleboards), Chip finished 2nd in the Florida State Paddleboard Championships – Unlimited SUP, Placed in the SUP Finals at the Pro/Am Ron Jon Easter Surf Fest and just took 2nd in the 12 mile Key West Classic Paddleboard Championships.

Up next for this C4 Waterman Ambassador is the 5 x event stop Hobie SUP Race Series in South Florida that runs once a month from April through August 2009, the Daytona Oceanfest on May 30th which features a 5 mile paddleboard race and 200M sprint races, in June the Waterman Paddleboard Challenge in Cocoa Beach, FL, the Hennessey US National Paddleboard Championships in CA in July along with the East Coast Championships in Daytona Beach in July. Chip also hopes to get an invite to compete in the Elite Division of the 2009 Rainbow Sandals - Battle of the Paddle in CA this October.

In addition to C4 Waterman and BARK Paddleboards, Chip also receives sponsor support from H2O Audio, SPY Optics, Go Pro – Hero 5 Digital Camera’s , GLOBE Shoes, Hammer Nutrition and Connected Fitness Personal Training. Since 2007, Chip has been raising awareness and support for the Lance Armstrong Foundation and LIVESTRONG through SUP competitions.
