This Saturday, October 18th at Cocoa Beach, Florids, Right Coast stand up paddler Chip Bock will be paddling 22 miles to raise awareness and support for The Lance Armstrong Foundation and LIVESTRONG. Experiences close to home have charged Chip's efforts to raise funds for these organizations which provide extensive research funding and support for the incredible individuals that LIVESTRONG every day.
Last year, Chip paddled in the event and raised almost $2,000 for the foundation. This year the goal is $4,000. Here is a link to an article of Chip's accomplishment last year entitled "Beachside Man Takes a Paddle to Cancer". Last year, on a 12' Laird, Bock paddled the last 11 miles straight into a 20 mph head wind to complete the course which many were not able to finish because of the harsh conditions. The race will start and finish at Lee Menner Park in Cocoa at the base of the SR 520 Causeway bridge (SR 519).
LIVESTRONG provided Chip with a webpage where you can support the cause with your donations. The Lance Armstrong Foundation is truly making a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families. Visit www.livestrong.org/grassroots2008/watermanforhope .
