Stand Up Paddle Surfing (SUP) history was made today as the Coreban International SUP series, presented by AAD Nissan & Battery Energy Drinks kicked into another gear for Day Two.
World famous Big Bay in Cape Town SA was the venue as stand up paddle riders from around the world took to the surf for spectacular Le Mans, surf slalom racing.
Eight man heats with athletes using the same size boards, a running start, racing through the waves and a figure eight coarse had competitors battling it out for the prestigious Summer Series crown. With over R75 000 in money and prizes, plus the use of a Nissan Pathfinder up for grabs, competition was tense and exciting right to the final round.
With another 2 days left in this unique sporting event Friday will offer great waveriding conditions with the final being on Saturday at SA’s most famous tourist location being the V&A Waterfront.
