Fenwick Island, DE — On Wednesday, 5/25/11, Will Rich and Mike Simpson are scheduled to arrive in Fenwick Island, DE on standup paddleboards (SUP) as part of their SUP the Coast awareness campaign for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting wounded military personnel and their families.

Will and Mike began their SUP the Coast journey in Key West, Fla., on March 1, 2011, and plan to follow the Intracoastal Waterway to Portland, Maine, which they expect to reach by mid summer. Along the way they’re raising awareness and funding for the WWP.

“We’re both standup paddle boarders with a deep respect for the sacrifices our military men and women make every day for our freedom and security,” said Will Rich. “We’re proud to be standing up for those who stood up for us.”

Local Stand Up Paddle Board Outfitter, DelMarVa Board Sport Adventures, www.delmarvaboardsports.com (cell 301-651-0542), next to Harpoon Hanna’s inside of Action Watercraft, Fenwick Island, DE is coordinating a host of events to welcome Mike and Will to the DelMarVa.  One event is a FREE stand up paddle board demo Wednesday 5/25/11 at their waterfront shop, next to Harpoon Hanna’s from 5-8 p.m. 39084 Harpoon Road, Fenwick Island, DE 19944.

On Thursday, 5/25/11, DelMarVa Board Sports is working with East of Maui and Fells Point Surf Co. in Dewey Beach to coordinate a fun SUP race and a bonfire.  A fundraising BBQ is also planned.  Details of events will be posted on the DelMarVa Board Sport Adventures Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/delmarvaboardsports.

All are welcome to come out and paddle with Will and Mike as they journey through the DelMarVa.   All events are weather and tide dependent.

Both Will and Mike are available for interviews and photo opportunities, and are happy to speak about SUP the Coast, WWP and SUP Cleanup chapters.
