Florida-based stand-up paddleboard manufacturer launches first-of-its-kind multi-use hybrid paddleboard

PRESS RELEASE: Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. (February 14, 2009) - YOLO Board LLC. announces the debut of the new YOLO Yak, the first-of-its-kind hybrid stand-up paddleboard/kayak. The Yak is the latest addition to the popular line of boards produced and sold internationally by the Florida-based stand-up paddleboard company.

Combining the elements of a paddle board with the durability of a kayak, the rotomolded polyethylene YOLO Yak features a front bungee tie-down system, molded-in keel system, foam traction pad and both side and rear handles. Designed as a full adventure board, the 11’10’’ long 33” wide YOLO Yak has a recessed deck to facilitate better stability for a variety of water pursuits such as fishing, crabbing, beginner surfing or just flat water paddling. Optional upgrades include flush rod holders and a complete SUP fishing system, which includes a fishing box, pole holders with tie downs and a tackle gear bag. Tough enough for outdoor storage, the YOLO Yak is a perfect fit for resorts and rental businesses, as well as all watermen who are tough on their gear.

“We spent over a year working on the design of the YOLO Yak and are thrilled by the positive response we’ve received since its release,” said Tom Losee, co-founder of YOLO Board LLC. “People of all ages and demographics ranging from kids to grandparents embrace the Yak because of its stability and virtually little to no learning curve. The addition of the Yak opens up a whole new market for us.”

“When I was first introduced to YOLO, I immediately recognized the parallels between our mutual desire to introduce and spread the SUP lifestyle,” said John Denney, owner of Jupiter Paddle Boarding based in Jupiter, Fla. “We pride ourselves in offering only the best paddleboards on the market, and the YOLO Yak is an impressive addition to our product line. It’s arguably the most durable multi-use stand-up paddleboard in the industry today.” “Whether you’re a devout kayaker, surfer or just new to paddle sports, we think the YOLO Yak appeals to a broader market because of its versatility, especially for fishing,” added Jeff Archer, co-founder of YOLO Board LLC. “The Yak is perfect for all water excursions, from a casual one-hour paddle to an all day fishing adventure.”

In celebration of the new board, the paddleboard company is currently planning an inaugural fishing tournament showcasing the YOLO Yak as the vessel of choice that is slated to take place this spring. For the latest event updates, visit www.YOLOBoard.com.

With access to the Gulf of Mexico, bays, harbors, natural springs, and the Intracoastal Waterway, Losee and Archer credit their company’s increasing local popularity to the diverse bodies of water available, most uniquely the abundance of coastal dune lakes in Northwest Florida. YOLO Board’s home base of South Walton County boasts a total of 15 rare coastal dune lakes, the largest concentration in the world. Similar ecosystems can only be found in the Florida Panhandle, Madagascar, Australia, New Zealand and the Northwest Pacific Coast of the United States.
