"British Stand Up Paddle Association Juniors Champion, Bobbie Cooper, reveals her dream in this colloquial essay she recently sent us here at Stand Up Paddle Surfing Magazine. We're rooting for you Bobby. Go get 'em" -www.SUPSURFMAG.com
Ok, so my dream is to be a Roxy girl, surf more waves and have more smiles in the ocean and the sunshine! To become a Roxy girl is a big thing to me! I’m obsessed and don’t leave the house without an item of their brand on! I’ve recently brought the “surf girl Roxy” book. It’s now my bible ha ha, not joking! The girls in it are amazing, so beautiful and their attitude towards the ocean is amazing, much more drive towards surfing than anyone I’ve ever met.
I first fell in love with the beach when I moved to the coast in 2000. Since then I’ve spent every summer hanging around the local surf club, where I got into stand up and where I now work. Surfing is one of the most amazing things in my life! You sit on the beach on a summer’s morning and watch what we call “swell “come in; you just have to get out there! And yet you stifle out there because hardly anyone over here wears anything smaller than a winter wetsuit ha ha.
The ocean is friendly and calm with neat little lines coming through and you enjoy its company. And if you’re like me, you go crazy with it and smile and sing lots to yourself ha ha! When I drop in on a wave on a stand up, I freak out with excitement and go crazy, I want to drive faster and turn harder and make the ride last forever, but on these waves its hard, so Hawaii or Indo is another dream! But I love surfing and couldn’t live without it; you don’t go a day without thinking about your next wave and what you want to learn!
I’m currently riding for GONG, great boards and a lot of fun to ride. I ride a 10’2 Greedy quad, they really go with the wave, smooth and easy to turn, I love them! I’ve recently been sponsored by Kialoa Paddles. They’re awesome too. I use the Methane. It’s my first carbon paddle and I’ve never used or seen anything with so much drive through the water. It’s VERY light weight and picks up a lot of speed. It’ll be good for distance as well as waves! My paddle is not only an awesome piece of equipment but looks cool on the water too. It’s purple with Hawaiian flowers, great for the girlies out there! I recommend Kialoa to anyone.
Keep smiling when you’re out there!
