What board to buy? 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I am in search of 2 paddle boards, one for me and one for my nephew. I tried it once and I am hooked. I got up and paddled with no problem on and Amundson 11'3". I live outside Boston and will paddle mainly on flat water, but would like to hop in some small waves from time to time. I don't plan on hitting legit surf spots to compete for waves with legit surfers. I don't have the juice for that right now, maybe next year.

I am looking at a used Amundson 11'3", will most likely get this one, but want to buy a 2nd one for my nephew.

Looking at Nugg, Gerry Lopez, Ron House and Gary McNabb. Any opinion on these or general suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Shaun

If you're after something about that size you should check out the 11' NSP boards.. They are a great board IMO and are a very durable and a good price.

I think it's a big mistake to buy something a little too small or narrow or too much a surfing board as a first board.. Don't think that you will grow into it.

I don't know much about those boards that you mentioned but if one of them makes a board that's close to the dimensions of the 11' NSP it will be ok.

Yeah the NSP boards are a great entry level board and a great price, You can view the Surf Industries range here http://www.surfdiveskate.com.au/shop/stand-up-paddle-boards-c-131_152.html I was riding the 11'6 South Point but am now riding a walden Magic which turns heaps easier in the surf, but there are also some great boards in the Mctavish range now if you want a board to throw around in the surf.
