I'm new to the SUP family. The dealer I'm buying my board from, a BIC ACS, (if they ever arrive) is pushing me to buy the adjustable aluminum paddle, the BIC I've heard pros and cons. The first instructor advised me not to skrimp on a paddle and go for the lightest weight. What do people out here think? PS I'll probably be the only person using the board on flat water or very calm days on the Atlantic.

Getting the best possible paddle will make a difference. I went for an adjustable Werner Nitro Full Carbon. $360 total out the door.

I am on my second board and still love my paddle. Heck this paddle makes everyboard seem good.

Don't touch a Carbon paddle unless you are willing to get one. They can be addictive. I have Carbon paddles for my flat water kayak and for the white water kayak. I've used my paddles for many boats but won't give up that light weight paddles.

Why do you need adjustable?.. Aluminum shaft paddles are very average IMO.. They're cold and heavy and don't have a very good feel (flex).

A good paddle will stay with you for ever and boards may come and go.. For me the paddle is more important than the board.

Don't buy a good paddle without first trying a Kialoa.. Quick Blade or Werner.. The Kialoa Shaka Pu'u is what I recomend.
